International cooperation of the MMA National Poison Control Center

Director of the Verifin Institute of the University of Helsinki, Prof. Paula Vanninen visited the National Poison Control Center (NPCC) of the Military Medical Academy.
At the introductory meeting, Head of the National Poison Control Center Prof. Dr. Slavica Vucinic with associates Prof. Dr. Jasmina Jovic-Stosic and Assist. Prof. Dr. Snezana Djordjevic, presented the work and activities of the Center, as well as the cooperation with international organizations and institutes. An important topic of the discussion was the possibility of further training of NPCC MMA’s member staff in the field of various analytical methods of chemical weapons detection at the Verifin Institute.
During her stay at the Military Medical Academy, Prof. Vaninen held a lecture on the activities of the Verifin Institute, which is one of the designated laboratories of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in charge of verifying the Chemical Weapons Convention. The participants had the opportunity to get familiar with the work areas of the Institute, the criteria for selecting designated laboratories, procedures in practice, as well as the challenges during a sample testing.
